Junk Drawer
an exploration of odds & ends
Junk Drawer is a zine and project inspired by objects,
seeking out ephemera and overlooked odds & ends.
It's a place to belong for things with no place to belong to.
It’s an exploration into the histories, stories, and imagined backgrounds
of things, all ready to be discovered, pondered and shared.
Junk Days in Review
Junk Days is an annual springtime event that occurs in certain suburbs around Chicago.
Residents are allowed to throw out anything, including large items, for a special curbside pickup.
Curbside is also where you'll see many folks searching for treasures along the tree-lined streets. And junk-lined streets. Of course, this junk is synonymous with treasure. It all depends on what you're looking for
2012 Junk Days
Junk Days was here again- or is it Junk Days were here? Either way, there was some fine junk to be found. Finds included three pairs of speakers. Only one pair was working, but not bad, in fact really nice speakers. There was a nice bench/chest, which was wood and painted white, in that shabby chic style. I listed it on Craigslist that way, and it sold right away. Anything shabby chic seems to be all the rage. If it hadn't been so shabby, it might not have been so popular.
One pile had travel guides from all corners of the world. The people must have travelled extensively back in the 1960's.
